The 7 Backlink Types on Bazoom: What They Are and How to Order Them

This article explains the 7 backlink types available in the Bazoom marketplace, what each one is used for, and how to place an order.

Overview

Bazoom supports 7 distinct backlink types, each designed for a different purpose in your link building strategy.

Whether you want to improve rankings for a specific page, build brand authority, increase visibility in AI-generated search results, or secure more prominent placements, choosing the right backlink type can make a real difference.

This guide walks you through each format and shows you how to find and order them in the marketplace.

The 7 Backlink Types Explained

Article
An Article backlink is a new piece of content written around your link and published on the publisher's site.

This is the most common backlink format and is a strong choice when you want to build topical relevance, support specific landing pages, and grow authority over time.

Link Insertion
A Link Insertion places your link into an existing, already-indexed article on the publisher's site.

Because the page already has history with Google, this format tends to deliver value faster than waiting for a brand-new article to mature. It's a strong choice when you're working to a deadline or want to support an existing campaign quickly.

Brand Mention
A Brand Mention means your brand is mentioned in a piece of content, either with or without a clickable link.

The unlinked version is particularly valuable for entity-building, as both Google and AI systems like ChatGPT and Perplexity factor in brand mentions when determining whether a brand is credible and established.

Homepage
A Homepage backlink is placed on the publisher's front page, which is usually one of the most authoritative URLs on a domain.

This format works best for branded anchors, visible partnership placements, or cases where a direct association with the publisher adds value to your brand.

Sitewide
A Sitewide backlink appears in the header or footer across every page of the publisher's domain.

Because this creates a large link footprint, it's important that the publisher’s niche is highly relevant to your brand. Sitewide placements should be used selectively and strategically.

Native
A Native backlink is a paid-style placement with editorial framing.

Native backlinks are a good fit when you need both reach and a credible context around your brand. It's not only about securing a referring domain, but also about presenting your brand in a way that feels natural and relevant to the publisher’s audience.

PR Article
A PR article is journalist-style coverage built for trust signals and brand authority.

This format signals most clearly to AI systems that your brand is credible, established and gets covered in the press. PR articles require more lead time than other formats, so you should plan for a minimum of 2 to 3 weeks.

How to Find and Order Backlink Types in the Marketplace

To find and order specific backlink types, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Bazoom marketplace.
  2. Locate the backlink type filter above the publisher list.

  1. Select one or more backlink types to filter publishers by the formats they support. You can choose between:

    1. Article
    2. Link Insertion
    3. Brand Mention
    4. Homepage
    5. Sitewide
    6. Native
    7. PR Article

  2. Review publisher cards to see which formats each publisher offers, including the price for each format. Domain rating, traffic, and niche remain the same across formats; only the placement type and price vary.

  3. Place your order and select your link type at the brief stage. Depending on the backlink type, you may need to provide additional information:
    • Article & PR article: Add a topic or angle for the piece.
    • Link Insertion: Provide a target URL on the publisher's site if you have one in mind, or let the publisher suggest one.
    • Brand Mention: Specify whether you'd like a clickable link or an unlinked citation.

Note: If you can't find a specific format on a publisher you like, use the support chat in the bottom right corner of the marketplace. Our team can usually suggest alternatives within the same niche.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind

Different backlink types are suited to different goals, timelines, and campaign strategies.

Link Insertions usually have a faster turnaround than Article placements.
If you're working with a tight deadline, Link Insertion is often the format to prioritise.

PR Articles require more planning.
Because they involve journalist-style coverage and editorial framing, you should allow at least 2 to 3 weeks when planning PR Articles into your campaign.

Homepage and Sitewide placements are limited inventory.
These placements are negotiated individually with each publisher and don't scale in the same way as editorial formats. Contact your account manager if you need help sourcing these placements.

Which Backlink Type Should You Use?

A good rule of thumb is to match the backlink type to the goal of your campaign.

  • Use Articles and Link Insertions to build topical relevance and improve rankings on specific pages.
  • Use Brand Mentions and PR articles to strengthen your brand entity and increase your chances of being cited in AI-generated search results.
  • Use Homepage and Sitewide backlinks selectively, where the publisher is a genuinely strong fit for your brand.
  • Use Native when you need reach combined with a credible editorial context.

Using a mix of backlink types can also help create a more natural backlink profile. This matters for traditional search engines like Google and for AI systems that increasingly evaluate brand credibility, relevance, and authority across multiple sources.
